September Wrap Up and Books of the Month

1. Into the Deep (Into the Deep, #1) by Samantha Young
2. Le relais des ombres by Béatrice Bottet
3. Finders Keepers (Lost and Found, #3) by Nicole Williams
4. Divergente (Divergent, #1) by Veronica Roth

Into the Deep (Into the Deep, #1)
I won Into the Deep in paperback in a giveaway by Samantha Young (>_<) !!! I don't get to read English books in paperback a lot so I was really thrilled to read it and Samantha Young never disappoint !!! It was really good, the story was told with flashback and the present alternatively, it was so frustrating that every emotions that the words can make you feel are really raw, that's why I enjoyed it so much, I can't wait to read Out of the Shallows !!!

Le relais des ombres
I'll make it short, I read the series when I was in middle school and never got the chance to finish it, so when I saw the last book of the series at the library, I knew I had to read it. It's about magic and spells but from the middle ages to 19th century, it's in 3 different trilogy, and there's some romance involved. I really enjoy this series because it surprise me that I loved the series so much because history and I are not really friend but the characters are so endearing ! So I was sad Le Relais des Ombres was the last one but it was so good !

Finders Keepers (Lost and Found, #3)
I really enjoy the whole Lost & Found series so did I with Finders Keepers, it's the story of Garth Black, the ex-antagonist and bad boy of the story, I found it so CUTE even if the word doesn't describe well the book (yeah, what I mean is it's the love story of a bad boy so ...) the word would rather be HOT ;-) !!!

Divergent (Divergent, #1)
I heard so much about the Divergent series and since there will be a movie, I decided to read it before the movie will be out, and I don't regret it, it was good and I really loved the characters even if sometimes the story was a little bit off (what I mean is it wasn't fluent at some point) but I still enjoy the story, and couldn't wait to read the second one ! I just want to add that I found some scenes really violent espcially when it's a YA novel, but if I could feel the violence, it means the book was well written, so I'm not really complaining ^^ !

As you can see, I didn't read that much because I'm back to school and this year is really decisive for me since I'll finish my two year course in product design so I really have to focus on studying this year.

I'm really addicted to books, when I begin a book I have to finish it ASAP, so I can't even read when I commute to school, so I decided this year I'll only read during week-ends and it's actually working for me (for now), that's why I didn't read a lot last month.

There's not really Books of the Month since there are only 4 books, and I enjoyed them all so they're all Books of the Month to me (^_^;)

I read two in English which are Into the Deep by Samantha Young and Finders Keepers by Nicole Williams. Both are NA novels and I really enjoyed them, like a lot.
And I read two in French which are Le Relais des Ombres (The Relay of the Shadows) by Béatrice Bottet and Divergent by Veronica Roth, both are YA novels and I enjoyed both too !!!

New Adult Read-a-Thon Wrap Up

So the NA Read-a-thon is now over, but I enjoyed it so much, to see what others people are reading and add some new books to my TBR pile !

My Achievements

* Read at least 6 books (and I hope even more)
I read 6 books (5 novels and 1 novella) !!!

* Make some new friends (I don't really have friends who love to read as much as I do)

I didn't really make friends but I met awesome people during this read-a-thon, especially at the Twitter Chat :D !

* Do one mini-challenge a day (or more if I can)!
Actually I did achieve this goal, but a it's a little bit debatable, I missed a challenge on Tuesday, but the challenge I wanted to do was finally posted on Friday, and since I did both challenges on Friday, it counts, no ? :)

* Reading 2 Must Read NA, which are:
Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire
If You Stay by Courtney Cole
Twisted Perfection by Abbi Glines
The Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay
The Edge Of Never by J.A. Redmerski
The Secret of Ella and Micha by Jessica Sorensen

Ok this goal is also a little bit debatable, this list is what I considered as "Must Read" in NA Genre in my TBR pile. I did read The Secret of Ella and Micha, but to me the Memories Series by Emma Hart is also a "Must Read" after reading it :)

* Do a (mini-)review for each book I'll read (yeah I'm a book blogger who've never written a review on my blog *shame on me I know*)
Oh my god, I'd never thought I would succeed in writing a review for each book I'll be reading ! *yep I'm the Goddess of Procrastination*
Now I don't say my reviews are the best, it's still a little bit awkard and maybe repetitive but it's still have my opinion and my thoughts, so I'm quite satisfied :)

*Participate actively at the Twitter Chat on Sunday !
So the Twitter Chat was very interesting, I met and chat with a lot of people, there were a lot of things agreed on about NA, from bloggers and some author (Big Mention to EMMA HART, I <3 her books), I didn't participate really actively, but I did tweet a lot using the hashtag #NARead , does it counts :) ?

So I'd like to think I succeed in (almost) all of my goals for my first Read-a-thon ever ! I really enjoyed the mini-challenges and couldn't wait to discover what were the challenges of the day :D ! If you want to see my entries for the mini-challenges, they are in my update post !

It's more personal but I'd like to add that thanks to writing reviews, I got some new words in my English vocabulary, so writing reviews is a win-win for me :)

P.S.: when I was writing this post, I found out that I've won the giveaway for the mini-challenge "Make Your Own Cover" over at Big Book Little Book !!! *happy dance*

NA Read-a-thon mini-challenge: Rewrite the Synopsis

Today it's the last day of the NA Read-a-thon and it was  really fun, I hope it was the same for everyone ! (=^_^=)

This is my entry for the mini-challenge "Rewrite the Synopsis" over at A Daydreamer’s Thoughts
I choosed Frigid by J.Lynn (aka Jennifer L. Armentrout) !

 Frigid (Frigid, #1)

Original synopsis

For twenty-one-year-old Sydney, being in love with Kyler isn't anything new. They'd been best friends ever since he pushed her down on the playground and she made him eat a mud pie. Somewhere over the years, she fell for him and fell hard. The big problem with that? Kyler puts the 'man' in man-whore. He's never stayed with a girl longer than a few nights, and with it being their last year in college, Syd doesn't want to risk their friendship by declaring her love.

Kyler has always put Syd on a pedestal that was too high for him to reach. To him, she's perfect and she's everything. But the feelings he has for her, he's always hidden away or focused on any other female. After all, Kyler will always be the poor boy from the wrong side of tracks, and Syd will always be the one girl he can never have.

But when they're stranded together at a posh ski resort due to a massive Nor'easter, there's nothing stopping their red-hot feelings for each other from coming to the surface. Can their friendship survive the attraction? Better yet, can they survive at all? Because as the snow falls, someone is stalking them, and this ski trip may be a life-changer in more ways than one.
My synopsis

Sydney is twenty-one-year-old and she's in love with her best-friend. Her problem ? Kyler is a flirt, a playboy, and sleep around.

Kyler is overprotective when it comes to his best-friend, but Sydney was always out of reach for him, because she's too good for him.

It's their last year in college, and it's a tradition for them to go to Snowshoe, but this year a blizzard will get stuck them together for a long time.

Will they cross the line between friendship and lovers ? More over something unexpected will happen to them, something that will change their lifes for sure.

Review: Always Remember (Memories #2) by Emma Hart

Always Remember (Memories, #2)
How long does it take for a long-distance relationship to break down? Sixteen months.
When Jen and Carl put their relationship to rest after Christmas, Jen’s biggest problem is going back to London ten days earlier than planned – and her ever-present attraction to Samuel ‘Bing’ Edwards.
Bing has no idea why Jen left Devon so fast. All he knows is that he wants her as much as he did the first day he laid eyes on her – so spending time with her while Lexy is still in Devon isn’t exactly a hardship for him. When he finds out she’s single, the only thing on his mind is finishing what they started at his dad’s fiftieth birthday party.
Feelings that have been a long time building between the two explode, and they both find themselves sucked into an easy yet passionate relationship, with Bing determined to prove to Jen that she’s it for him. That she is The One.
But in a city like London, the odds are stacked against them, and there’s always that one person ready to stir things up… And Jen doesn’t know how much of that she can take – even for the guy she loves more deeply than she ever imagined, and eventually she breaks.
Bing isn’t down with that. He wants Jen, and he wants her by his side for good.

Jennifer Mason must learn that Samuel Edwards doesn’t do giving up. Especially not when his forever girl is involved.

In this novel, it's the story of Jennifer and Bing (Samuel), it happens more than a year after Holding On, Jennifer just broke up with Carl, but they parted in a friendly way, seems like long distance relationship wasn't for them. On the other side we have Bing who tried to forget that he's attracted to her sister's best friend. Both will begins to get closer and their love-hate relationship will move to another level ...

This story was the CHERRY on top of the cake !!!! Mind blowing if this expression exist (which I'm pretty sure) ! Sam and Jen have the most amazing love(-hate) story ! On one side we have Jennifer and her blunt honesty and amazing expressions, this girl is crazy and you can't help but love her, and on the other side we have SEXY Samuel who knows he's (well) SEXY and he can't help but annoy Jen because he loves how she answer, but mostly because he loves her, because she's his bada bing person. From a playboy, he became slowly and more romantic (I think he can beat Alec for the Romance Crown, just saying ;-) )
The story was full of funny moments and sexual tension, full of love and romantic moments, a little bit of drama but not too much !

Jennifer is in universty to study art it's not easy all the time but she manages to be on the right track, but it's not the same with her love life, especially with Sam. We learn a lot more about her personality, she can be peaceful and calm especially when she paints. She's also possessive and knows how to show it! I love her temper and I smiled a lot when she talks with Sam !

Sam (who used to be known as Bing) is becoming more a decent guy, he stopped his one-night stand and begins to become more and more attracted to Jennifer and never forget to say something to get her attention, he's sexy and he knows it, and doesn't hesitate to use it to seduce Jen. He's getting more and more thougtful and does everything he can to prove that he has changed.

We get a little bit of Lexy and Alec and we can see how they still love each other and that they don't hesitate to give advice and support their friends and family.

This series is amazing and I'm so glad I got to discover this amazing author, Emma Hart, I love her writing style and wouldn't mind to read her others series ! This Memories Series was full of love, romance and fun, very fresh and definitely a summer read !!!

Review: Holding On (Memories # 1.5) by Emma Hart

Holding On (Memories, #1.5)

Living in London after spending almost twenty years in a town with a population of three hundred would be hard on anyone – and Alec Johnson is no exception to the rule.
When Alec followed Lexy to London, he knew his life would change drastically. He just didn’t know how much. With Lexy’s friends and admirer to contend with, he has to show there’s more to the country surfer boy than his ability to ride the waves. With his own shameless admirers, he has to keep Lexy’s trust – and despite her love for him, that’s no easy task.

Beneath her tough girl exterior, all Jennifer Mason has ever wanted to do is paint. London’s School of Art can give her that, and she couldn’t be happier she’s finally breaking free from Lilac Bay. What she’s not happy about is having to leave Carl behind – or his reluctance to visit her while she’s studying.
Their relationship is put to the test as living on her own for the first time and university take their toll on Jen. After all, three hundred miles is a long way to be away from your boyfriend when you’re eighteen years old.
And it’s even harder when you can’t keep your eyes off your best friend’s older brother.

This novella gives us a glimpse of the life of Alexis (also called Lexy) and Alec after the end of Never Forget, of some little problems with Lexy ex-friends, but we get to learn a little bit more about Jen, Lexy's best friend and also Bing, Lexy's brother.

This novella was sweet and funny, the main couple have some problems but they're strong so it's okay (I can hear "Us Against the World" by Westlife, if you've read Never Forget in the same series you'd understand ;-) ) . The funny part is the relationship between Bing and Jen and it's full of tension and full of funny and feisty lines, really, you never know what you can expect them to say to each other ! The author raised the topic about long distance relationship and I find that it makes the story even more realistic ! If I had to point out something, it would be the 4 POV writing, it's a little bit hard to read sometimes, but it's okay since it's a novella.
I really love Emma Hart writing style, fresh but real, not too descriptive !

Review: Never Forget (Memories #1) by Emma Hart

 Never Forget (Memories, #1)

A city girl.
A small town boy.
A summer they'll never forget.

Spending the summer at her Grammy's in Lilac Bay, Devon, is city girl Alexis 'Lexy' Edwards idea of hell. That is, until she reconnects with her childhood friend, Jen, and meets Alec Johnson.

Alec is the kind of guy Lexy knows she needs to stay away from. He's the village flirt, ridiculously hot and very dangerous to her self control. But there's a problem – she can't seem to keep him out, even though she knows he'll break her heart.

As Alec slowly strips away Lexy's defences and the two embark on a summer romance she never wanted, their feelings grow to more than either expected. But nothing lasts forever, and reality intrudes.

As her world is shaken to it's core, Lexy's self made prediction comes true when she discovers she's spent six weeks surrounded by secrets. Kept out by her family and the only guy she's ever trusted, she falls apart.

And when Grammy tells her that 'you might not end up where you wanted to be, but you'll always end up where you're meant to be,' she has to figure out if her meant to be is back home in London, or if it's been in Devon the whole time.

Alexis is a 17 (almost 18) year-old city girl from London and for summer vacation she's going to spend it with her family at her Grandma's cottage in Lilac Bay. What she didn't expect is to fall in love with Alec, which is known to be a playboy. He works for her grandmother in the garden and it seems like they'll spend a lot of time together ...

OH.MY.GOD !!!
This novel is amazing ! I couldn't put it down, it's in dual POV from Alexis and Alec and at first it seems more YA to me but finished in a really good NA way . I don't know how to explain but there was everything that can make a good novel, it makes you want to go to Lilac Bay, to the beach, there was a lot of feeling, there was a beautiful romance, there was hot boys and a lot of funny moments and sad moments that makes you want to cry !
Emma Hart is a great author! I mean this book is about romance but also about family, how we should live a lot of thing because time (and life) can be cut short, and about real friendship !

Alexis, mostly called Lexy, was a real teenage city girl, and when she came to Lilac Bay to her Grandma's, she met a boy, fell in love and grew up into a wonderful young woman, she's described as a beautiful girl but to me I remember more about her feisty personality, her fears to love, to be heartbroken, she was an amazing character and I got really attached to her.

Alec was so swooon worthy !!! I mean yeah he's a playboy but it's for some reason. He's really hot and he knows it (yep yummy!), he's the guy you're stupid to trust but you know you can't resist ! (yeah I used a line from the book and a song ;-) ) We learn a lot about him and he's really thoughtful and romantic, he really did a lot of thing to be worthy of Lexy. Some of his plans to win over Lexy are really cute and romantic !

Now about the second characters there were:
Jennifer, Lexy's summer chilhood friend, who'll become her best friend, she's crazy and she's real honest, she says what she thinks and has a boyfriend, Carl (who's Alec's best friend) who's hot as his best friend, he's a real country boy, he also knows how to love his girl !

Bing (I don't understand why it's his nickname, if someone understand please tell me, English is not my mother-tongue (^_^;) ), who's real name is Samuel, is Lexy's brother, he's worst than Alec, and have a lot of one night stand, he's a real flirt but he's also very overprotective of his sister but doesn't show it and he likes to annoy her. It seems like there's some tension between him and Jennifer ; -)

Violet, also called Vi, is Lexy's grandmother and is really a character, she loves her granddaughter and wants to see her happy. She loves gardening and is trying to play Cupid for Lexy ... She may be old but still young at heart.

So I really love this book, it was fun, cute, a great Must Read for Summer, I'm so glad I got to read this amazing novel thanks to the recommendations for NA novels setting in UK, in the NA Book Club disccusion board on Goodreads ! I can't wait to read the last book which is Jen & Bing story !
